The Hirschbirne is an ancient pear variety whose origins lie in Eastern Styria, with a focus on the Pöllauer Valley. The fruit became popular through our tireless pioneering efforts. Not only have we prevented the progressive clearing of trees in the region, but we have also ensured that the deer pear is cultivated again.

In 2006, the Pöllau region was awarded the Pöllau Hirschbirne Gourmet Region. Incidentally, deer does not refer to the animal, but comes from the word autumn (Hiascht).

As special as the deer pear looks, its ingredients are just as valuable: the potassium contained in the deer pear has a diuretic effect and the high amount of fiber saturates and promotes digestion.
